The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Air Force are brainstorming on more areas of collaboration to improve air safety and security.

The brainstorming session happened at the one-day interactive session between the FAAN and the Senior Course 45, Department of Air Warfare Nigeria Air Force in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, the Regional General Manager, FAAN, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja Kabir Yusuf Mohammed said air safety and security is a collective responsibility of all airport stakeholders.

“For us this is an opportunity to discuss, make observations and proffer recommendations on how to improve current practices bordering on safety and security through sharing of experiences and knowledge” he said.

“As you all are aware, a lot of activities go on within the airport environment. In order to mitigate any negative impact on the overall efficiency and reliability of the aviation ecosystem, as well as potential latent safety and security risks, it is important for airports to have conversations such as this, in addition to regular engagements and collaboration with its stakeholders” he noted.

“As it’s said: ‘An Ounce of Prevention is better than a Pound of Cure.’ – We are here to rub minds on how to improve the Safety and Security in our industry to the benefit of all” he stated.
