An Abuja bound train from Kaduna detailed at Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja. This is less less than a week when another train detailed on the Warri-Itakpe train corridor.
The Managing Director, of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Engr. Fidet Okhiria confirmed the accident to our correspondent on the phone.
He said it is true that the train has an accident around Kubwa, Abuja.
He however said he didn’t have much details on the accident but there have been no fatalities reported yet.
He said he’s still gathering information on the accident and will provide further details when he gets more information.
This accident is also coming less than amount since a train crushed a woman to death around same Kubwa axis of the Abuja-Kaduna train corridor.
It is also coming just about three weeks after scores were kidnapped on the Itapkpe-Warri train corridor.
The Itapkpe-Warri train derailment was attributed to vandalism on the rail track
It is not immediately clear what might have caused the derailment on the Abuja bound train.
Senator Shehu Sani in a tweet called on the NRC ensure the security and safety of the stranded passengers.
The frequency of ugly accidents on the train operations in Nigeria has raised serious concerns and apprehensions from.traveklers.
Recall the Abuja-Kaduna train service was shut down last year for eight months after a deadly terrorists attack on the train service..
At the wake of the resumption of the train operations, the Minister of Transportation, Alh. Muazu Jaji Sambo had promised that enough safety measures has been put on the corridor to forestall security breaches..but recent developments have suggested that the measures are not adequate.
