Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has emerged the Benue State Governor after he pulled the highest number of valid votes cast.
He was declared winner and returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC
Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressive Congress (APC), defeated his closest rival Hon. Titus Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Fr. Alia polled a total of 473,973 votes to defeat his closest rival, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba who scored a total of 223,915 votes.
The winner of the governorship election was announced after results from the 22 Local Government Areas were collated out of the 23 LGAs of the state.
He became the second Catholic Church Priest to be elected governor in Benue state. First, it was late Rev. Fr. Moses Adasu.
