The Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, has disclosed plans to establish 10 hectres of oil palm plantation in each Senatorial district of Benue State.
When the farms are completed, the state would have at least 30 hectres of new oil palm plantation to compliment existing oil palm farms in the state
These oil palm farms will potentially feed the palm oil factory that will be inaugurated on March 18, 2024 by the company.
The MD told our correspondent on Friday that the planting of the oil palm plantation would begin in March, 2024.
The MD with his team on Friday also inspected the 23 hectares of property at Abinsi, Guma LGA area of Benue State, and the BIPC High Level Guest House, Makurdi as part of assets stocktaking.
Dr. Asemakaha, consequently directed the staff of the Real Estate Department to begin the process of allotting 10 hectares of land for palm plantations and 13 hectares for low-income earners’ estate in the state.
The Managing Director, accompanied by staff of the company, also inspected the remodelling of the High Level Guest House into a palm oil-producing plant.
Asemakaha disclosed that when completed, the factory will provide palm oil for people in the state and address the shortage of palm oil in the market.
