Life Lager Beer, a proud sponsor of the Super Eagles, has commended the team’s performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after the brilliant victory over host nation Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday. The premium beer brand has re-emphasised its support and belief in the national team to qualify from Group A and achieve success at the tournament.

After a valiant 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in their first game, the Super Eagles had been expected to showcase the strength, determination, and prowess synonymous with the Nigerian spirit to surmount the challenges posed by the Elephants.

The Nigerian team went into the game as underdogs as they lined up at the host nation’s boisterous Stade Alassane Ouattara stadium. A victory would make them level with Equatorial Guinea at the top of Group A with four points apiece and put them in a favorable position to qualify for the next round of Africa’s biggest football competition.

The game ended in a 1-0 after a frenetic, action-packed 99 minutes with Troost-Ekong getting on the scoresheet for Nigeria through a penalty in the 55th minute after Osimhen had gone down in the box. Nigeria now has four points to climb to second in the table behind Equatorial Guinea.

Hailing the players’ performance as a true reflection of Life Beer Lager’s key values of progress, brotherhood, and tradition, the beer brand has expressed belief that Nigeria possesses the courage, resilience and enterprise to conquer the continent.

Chima Dim, Senior Brand Manager, Life Lager Beer, says “We believe in the progressive spirit of the Super Eagles, the sense of togetherness football brings to Nigerians, and our support for the team and sport goes beyond sponsorship – it reflects our dedication to celebrating the essence of Nigerian resilience and success. We are incredibly inspired by the sheer grit and commitment to progress displayed so far by the Super Eagles in the tournament. The performance against Ivory Coast only serves to fuel our belief in the team’s ability to overcome challenges and emerge victorious in the end.”

Through a clarion call at the start of the tournament titled ‘Jee Turu Ugo’, which translates to ‘Go For Glory’, Life Lager Beer continues to encourage all Nigerians to embody the true spirit of unity to rally the team to triumph. With anticipation building and the nation holding its breath for the final group game against Guinea-Bissau, the beer brand is further urging over 100 million Nigerian football lovers to cheer and celebrate the Nigerian players who carry with them the hopes and dreams of millions.

Portfolio Manager, Nigerian Breweries PLC, Olaoluwa Babalola, also says: “we are excited to be a part of this thrilling journey with the Super Eagles. Our commitment to supporting the team is resolute, and ‘Jee Turu Ugo’ is not just a call to action; it’s an anthem of unity and pride. As the Super Eagles face the challenges on the pitch, we want every Nigerian to feel the heartbeat of the nation in every cheer, in every shared moment of exhilaration. It’s a never-say-die attitude that’s necessary to inspire the players.”
