Corps Members have been admonished to use the opportunities of the service year to remain selfless, steadfast and also utilize their inter-tribal differences towards the promotion of national unity and integration.
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushu’a Ahmed gave this advice in his address to Corps Members while at Adamawa State Orientation Camp, Damare in Girei Local Government Area of the State.
He advised them to create and foster mutual relationships among themselves, adding that this would lead to good memories in future.
He added that NYSC was established for the promotion of national unity and integration, hence, the need for all Corps Members to abide by the ideals of the founding fathers of the Scheme.
General Ahmed also enjoined the Corps Members to strive for excellence wherever they may be posted to, as they contribute their quota to national development during the service year.
“As soon as you end your Orientation Course, settle down in your place of primary assignments.
In NYSC, we have collaborated with the security agencies to ensure that all Corps Members are safe, but you must also ensure your personal safety.
Try and engage yourselves in positive activities”, the DG said.
In his camp situation report to the Director General, the Adamawa State Coordinator, Mr Sam Ateli stated that 1,334 Corps Members, made up of 781 males and 563 females were registered in camp.
He added that the Corps Members are well-behaved and have been participating in all camp activities.
The Coordinator attributed the success of the Orientation Exercise so far, to the application of emotional intelligence by all camp officials.
