The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has charged commanders at all level to come up with innovative ideas to upscale their approaches towards improving man-management and battle readiness.
The COAS disclosed this on Tuesday 24 September 2024 during a-day Seminar organized by the Army Headquarters Department of Army Transformation and Innovation (AHQ DATI) on Warrior Ethos for officers and soldiers of 8 Division at Army Officers’ Mess and Suites Sokoto.
The Seminar with theme “Optimizing Warrior Ethos in the NA: A Panacea for Operational Effectiveness”, was aimed at enhancing values-driven mindset, operational and leadership capacity of junior and middle-cadre officers.
The COAS who was represented by the acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD), Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, said that the seminar is geared towards the realization of his Command Philosophy which is hinged on transforming the NA through quality leadership, operational effectiveness and sound administration.
He added that it is premised on the need to enhance the capacity of NA personnel towards warrior ethos and the battle spirit mentality, stressing that the seminar is one of the many measures emplaced to mitigate the challenges faced by the troops while operating in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous security environment, as the NA continued to review its tactics, techniques and procedures in order to come up with both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to defeat these challenges.
Earlier in welcome remarks, the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, AHQ DATI, Major General Zakari Abubakar said that the seminar captures the desire by NA to rejig the fighting spirit of its personnel and check the menace of drug and substance abuse among the troops, as well as to create awareness and measures to suppress the acts of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Terrorism, noting that the resource persons for the seminar were carefully.
