History was made as the Acting Director General Civil Aviation (Ag. DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo officially signed the Updated Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Procedure for Recordation of Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorization (IDERA) and Registration of Aircraft under IDERA.
The import of the epoch-making event, which was held today, 16th October, 2024 at the Ministry’s Conference Room, is sequel to NCAA adjusting its administrative rules called IDERA to fully align with the Cape Town Convention (CTC) Practice Directions to enable domestic airline operators to access aircraft on dry lease.
The signing is to further boost the confidence of global aircraft lessors, financiers and asset managers, under the aegis of Aviation Working Group (AWG), to increase Nigeria’s CTC compliance index score from its current 70.5%.
The IDERA, a viable alternative to the judicial remedy provided by the Cape Town Convention (CTC) Practice Direction, is to provide administrative pathway for deregistration and exportation of aircraft out of Nigeria within a period of five (5) days.
