The Military High Command has confirmed a shooting at Forward Operational Base Dansadua, Kastina by a Naval Personnel LS Akila killing his colleague.
In a statement issued by the Director, Defence Media Operations DDMO, Major General Edwards Buba said the incident took place
On 25 Oct 24, at about 0312hrs.
He said  a naval personnel, LS Akila A, deployed at FOB Dansadua for Operation FANSAN YAMMA , in questionable circumstances opened fire sporadically killing a fellow military colleague.
According to Gen. Buba the personnel was  arrested, disarmed, detained and investigation has since commenced into the case.
“After investigation, the case will be escalated to a standing court martial setup to address such misdemeanor among troops.
He said the administrative procedure for notifying the family of the deceased is ongoing.
“It is for this reason, his name is not yet released to the public.
” Nevertheless, the name will be released in due course.
“Accordingly, we urge the media to exercise caution in reporting in order not to further demoralized  the family of the deceased”. Gen Buba said.
