In its effort towards strengthening operational efficiency and preparing future leaders to tackle operational challenges in the field, Students of Junior Course 98, Department of Land Warfare, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji visited Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna on an operational tour to acquaint themselves with the operational activities of the Division and Operation FANSAN YAMMA on 4 November 2024.
In his welcome remarks during the visit, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso, stressed the pivotal role of the AFCSC in advancing the professional development of personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, as well as those from allied countries and other nations. He noted that the mid-career course is crucial for students to enhance their professional knowledge and develop the leadership skills needed for higher roles in both staff, instructional and command appointments. He encouraged the students to use the training period to build capacities that will prepare them for the responsibilities that lie ahead.
Gen Saraso also pledged the Division’s continued support to the AFCSC, affirming his commitment to provide backing for field exercises and research initiatives that could further enhance the Division’s operational capabilities.
Speaking during the event, Lt Col Yunusa Jibril Yunusa, a member of Directing Staff and Sponsor Directing Staff for the visit, outlined the purpose of the visit, stating that the students were at the Division on an operational tour to build their capacity and strengthen their operational efficiency in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges. He added that the visit will further allow the students to gain first-hand insights into the efforts of Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA and 1 Division’s efforts in tackling security situation in its Area of Responsibility.
