The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, commends the National Assembly for the speedy screening of the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede.
General Musa, who witnessed the screening process in both chambers, was impressed with the manner in which the Senate and House Committees for Army screened the Acting Chief of Army Staff.
General Musa assured the National Assembly that Lt Gen Oluyede would bring new vigor and his vast experience to bear in the fight against insecurity if confirmed as substantive Chief of Army Staff.
He also pledged that Lt Gen Oluyede would build on the legacy of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja. The CDS described the prompt action of the NASS as patriotic and apt at this critical time.
The CDS reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to securing the nation. The AFN remains loyal to the constituted authority in pursuit of its constitutional roles.
