Nigerians living in the diaspora can now look forward to a home coming laced with tourism opportunities and investment opportunities.
These possibilities are part of the Motherland 2025 initiative powered by Discover Motherland Africa.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative in Abuja, Chidimma Nwankwo the Managing Director of Discover Motherland Africa said the innovation is a “movement that not only reconnects the Nigerian diaspora to their roots but also unlocks investment, cultural pride, and a future filled with opportunity.”
“Motherland is more than an event. It’s a homecoming. It’s a journey. It’s a commitment” she emphasized.
Giving insights into.the event she said: “This December, we invite the global diaspora to experience Nigeria like never before—not as visitors, but as participants in a redefined vision of tourism. Over the course of seven unforgettable days, attendees will be immersed in Nigeria’s rich traditions, vibrant history, and dynamic progress. Whether you are part of the diaspora, a first-generation Nigerian, or someone who has never set foot in Nigeria, this is your invitation. Not just to visit, but to engage, to contribute, and to become part of something bigger.”
She further explained that the event is designed to.give an experience where everyone can find their place:

● State Pavilions will offer a taste of Nigeria’s diversity—exhibits, food tastings, performances, and tourism showcases from across the country.
● Technology Pavilions will spotlight Nigeria’s brightest minds in AI, fintech, and agriculture, pushing the boundaries of innovation.
● From Entertainment to Healthcare Pavilions we will showcase the booming creative industry, the evolution of Nollywood, and the advancements in healthcare.
● The experience will culminate in the Motherland Closing Concert—a celebration of African music and culture, featuring some of the continent’s top artists. A night of unity, joy, and pride.
The MD indicated that when the revellers truly experience Nigeria—its warmth, its energy, and its boundless potential—they will begin to see ways to contribute.

Commenting, the Hon. Minister of Arts, Culture Tourism and Creative economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa said emphasized the mission of the ministry: to position Nigeria as premier global destination where tourism drives economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and national pride, Guild by President Tinubu’s Renew Hope Agenda.
She aligned this vision with Motherland 2025 Initiative as part of activation destination of 2030; and as such she reaffirmed that this project is beyond entertainment and more than festival but a call for global reflection and promotion of African culture, commerce and community.
According her “The Year will open the door of global diasporas, inviting them to immersed themselves in the rich traditions, explore investment opportunities and witness the remarkable transformation unfolding across our nation”

She concluded by calling on all Nigerian home and in Diasporas to be part of this epoch December events, to experience the warmth of our culture, and the limitless opportunities that wait.
