The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Assessment Team has commended the efforts of troops of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) for their dedication in sustaining pressure against terrorists and criminal elements in the North-West and parts of the North-Central region of Nigeria.
This was revealed by the team leader, Major General WB Idris, during an assessment visit to the Headquarters OPFY in Gusau, Zamfara State.
Major General Idris highlighted the importance of continuous evaluation of joint operations to ensure alignment with the military’s strategic objectives and the national aim of setting up the Joint Task Force.
He further stated that the visit aimed to assess the current state of operational activities, reinforce inter-agency collaboration, and identify opportunities for improving the overall effectiveness of counterterrorism and anti-banditry efforts across the region.
The team leader specifically praised the professionalism and coordination displayed by troops, including personnel of various security agencies involved in the ongoing OPFY operations.
He lauded the resilience and dedication of the troops, especially given the challenging terrain and the complex security threats they confront daily. He urged the troops to maintain the current tempo and emphasized the importance of enhanced coordination among security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to maximize operational efficiency.
The Theatre Commander, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, expressed appreciation for the DHQ Team’s visit, describing it as a vital step towards strengthening field operations.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining operational effectiveness and emphasized the importance of motivating troops and fostering seamless collaboration among all security stakeholders.
The team later visited some frontline troops in Kwotorkoshi and Tsafe, in Bungudu and Tsafe Local Government Areas of Zamfara State. During the visits, the team leader commended the troops’ efforts and encouraged them to remain focused on achieving the mandate of OPFY.
The DHQ Team’s visit was crucial to boosting troops’ morale, validating ongoing efforts, and reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
