One of the influential youth groups in Northern Nigeria, the Coalition of Northern Youth Forum of Nigeria has honoured the Chairman of the Independent Media and Policy Initiative (IMPI) Dr. Niyi Akinsiju with an award in recognition of his contribution to nation-building.
The group also conferred him with the title of “Jakadan Zaman Lafiya Najeriya” at a brief ceremony in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, chairman of the group, Comrade Iliya Danladi noted that Akinsiju was nominated for the award as a result of his resilience in furthering the ideals of patriotism and nationalism.
Danladi added that the IMPI Chairman is known, over the years, for speaking on socio-economic and political issues with the zeal that he expects many Nigerian youth to emulate especially as he was once a youth leader in his University years.
In response, Dr Akinsiju commended the group on its efforts at uplifting young people in Northern Nigeria while citing some of the projects the coalition of Northern Youth Forum of Nigeria had embarked on in recent years.
He also pledged to live up to the responsibility of the title conferred on him by the youth group.
