The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has commended the Namibian Command and Staff College for its commitment to strengthening defence and education cooperation across Africa.

Minister Badaru made the remark when he received a 26‑member delegation from the Namibian Command and Staff College (Course 05/2025) led by Brigadier Benhard Erastus, Commandant of the College, during a study tour to Nigeria at his office, Ship House, Abuja.

Represented at the meeting by the Director, Joint Service Department, Mrs. Bosede Olaniyi, the Minister expressed Nigeria’s readiness to share experiences, deepen mutual understanding and build stronger partnerships with Namibia and other African countries in pursuit of continental peace and security.

He recalled the long-standing historical ties between Nigeria and Namibia, noting Nigeria’s active role during Africa’s liberation struggles, and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to collaborative initiatives that advance regional stability.

Minister Badaru further stressed the importance of African unity, saying that togetherness is essential to prevent external forces intent on dividing the continent.

In his remarks, Brigadier Erastus thanked the Nigerian government and the Ministry of Defence for the warm reception and for sharing insights into Nigeria’s defence policy, civil‑military relations and regional security operations. He said the delegation chose Nigeria because of its regional leadership and to learn more about defence and security studies, which underpin sustainable economic development in Namibia.

The visit included a presentation on the Ministry of Defence architecture by the Joint Service Department, followed by a general discussion and interactive session.

As a mark of appreciation, the Namibian delegation presented a plaque of honour to the Ministry, received on behalf of the Ministry by the Director, Joint Service Department.
