SECURITY FOIL ATTEMPT ATTACK ON FOOD BASKET BREWERY

The Management of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has announced that security personnel attached to the Food Basket Brewery have successfully foiled an attempted attack on the facility.

A statement by the management said the attempt attack occurred in the early hours of today, 4th February 2026 at on or  about 4:00AM.

It said “suspected arsonists attempted to scale the perimeter fence of the brewery from the rear section near the raw materials store.”

“The suspected arsonist according to the security personnel  were in custody of cans believed to be containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with the  intention  of  setting parts of the facility ablaze” the statement indicated.

“The security personnel spotted the suspicious movement and immediately mobilized to intercept the intruders whom upon noticing the swift response of the security team,  fled the scene abandoning their mission. No damage was recorded, and operations at the brewery remain uninterrupted” the statement explained.

BIPC commended the alertness, professionalism, and bravery of the security team whose timely action prevented what could have resulted in significant damage to state asset.

It assured that tbe Company is working closely with relevant security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice. Surveillance and security measures around all BIPC facilities have also been reinforced to forestall any future attempts, it further stated.

BIPC reiterated that the Food Basket Brewery and all its subsidiaries are collective assets of the people of Benue State.

“These investments were established to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and enhance internally generated revenue for the development of the state” it noted.

“We therefore urge the good people of Benue State to take ownership of these investments by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting any suspicious activities around BIPC facilities to the appropriate authorities” the statement called.
