Speaking at the 2026 Store Officers’ Workshop held at Bolingo Xperia Hotel, the NYSC helmsman stressed that efficient store administration remained critical to the success of the Scheme’s programmes.

General Nafiu, whose address was delivered by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Nura Umar, urged the officers to embrace prudence, integrity and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities to ensure effective service delivery.

He admonished them to be diligent and accurate in record-keeping while strictly complying with established storekeeping procedures, inventory management policies and extant administrative regulations.

The DG assured participants of Management’s commitment to continuous capacity building through regular training programmes designed to enhance staff performance and ensure hitch-free operations in the overall interest of the Scheme.

Reminding the officers of their role as custodians of government assets, he cautioned against negligence in the utilisation of public resources.

“In the National Youth Service Corps, store management remains indispensable to the successful implementation of our programmes at Orientation Camps, State Secretariats, Area Offices and the National Directorate Headquarters,” he said.

He added that kits, camp equipment, office supplies and other operational materials must be properly received, documented, stored and issued in line with approved procedures, warning that lapses could undermine service delivery and erode public confidence in the Scheme.

In her opening remarks, the Acting Director of General Services, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, described the workshop as a vital platform for knowledge sharing and the adoption of modern best practices in store management, inventory control and record keeping.

The workshop, themed “Efficient Store Keeping: A Pillar of Accountability and Service Delivery in NYSC,” drew participants from formations in the 36 states, the FCT Secretariat and store officers at the National Directorate Headquarters.
