The Prof. Sebastine Tar Hon has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he resigned from the party effectively from 3rd April 2026.
The resignation was announced by his Campaign Organisation.
A statement signed by Dr. Ngutor Anyam, Interim Director-General, Prof. Sebastine Tar Hon Campaign Organisation explained that the decision is personal and follows careful reflection and broad consultations.
The statement noted that Prof. Hon’s association with the APC was marked by mutual respect, constructive engagement, and a shared commitment to the progress of Benue State and Nigeria.
The Organisation therefore expresses sincere appreciation to the leadership and members of the party at ward, local government, state, and national levels for the cooperation and goodwill extended to him during his period of membership.
In particular, the Organisation conveys profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his purposeful leadership and commitment to Nigeria’s unity and economic progress.
It also expresses deep respect and gratitude to His Excellency, Senator Dr George Akume, CON, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, whose guidance and contributions to the development of Benue State and Nigeria remain widely acknowledged.
The Organisation further announces that Prof. Hon has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a platform through which he intends to work with the people of Benue State to restore accountable leadership, strengthen institutions, and promote transparent and people-centred governance.
Our supporters across the state are encouraged to register with the PDP and mobilise others to do the same. The recognised platform for PDP member e-registration is www.pdpnigeria.org, and the process requires only a National Identification Number (NIN).
