The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Apapa Area Command, has posted ₦323 billion in revenue for July 2026, the highest monthly collection ever recorded by the Command.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed this during the Command’s monthly meeting with Deputy Comptrollers of Terminals and Unit Heads held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in Lagos.
The figure surpasses the Command’s previous record of ₦304 billion recorded in October 2025 under Comptroller Oshoba’s leadership.
Comptroller Oshoba attributed the unprecedented collection to policy support, operational reforms, and improved compliance across the Command.
He commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the NCS management team for driving the ongoing modernisation of the Service.
“We recognise and acknowledge the CGC’s devotion and dedication to the modernisation project of the Nigerian Customs Service. The management team has introduced several innovations that have streamlined our activities and given us clear direction,” he said.
The CAC noted that reforms were already yielding results, citing improved performance of the B’Odogwu system, which had earlier faced challenges but is now producing strong outcomes.
He also lauded the One-Stop Shop, OSS, initiative for reducing cargo delivery time and creating a more predictable business environment, as well as the Authorised Economic Operator, AEO, framework, which now has over 200 beneficiaries and has positively impacted the Command’s revenue profile.
On enforcement, Comptroller Oshoba said intelligence-driven operations have strengthened compliance through the detection of false declarations and strict adherence to valuation principles to protect national revenue.
He also credited the enabling business environment created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly the relative stability in the foreign exchange market, for allowing businesses to plan better and trade with more confidence.
The CAC challenged officers to go beyond routine revenue collection.
“In your Area of Responsibility, you must ask yourself, apart from the normal revenue generated by your Unit, what is your own contribution in terms of intervention? What have I added?” he asked.
On trade facilitation, he directed that disputes be resolved promptly, proper documentation be followed for consignments requiring further scrutiny, and the Post Clearance Audit, PCA, process be strictly observed.
He also urged officers to maintain professionalism in stakeholder engagement.
