Suspected armed bandits on Friday abducted dozens of muslim worshippers at a Central Mosque during the Jumuat prayers in Zugu community of Gummi local government area of Zamfara state.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspected terrorists disguised as worshippers only to unleash terror on genuine worshippers during the prayer time
eye witness account said the terrorists hid their guns under their clothes, gained access to the mosque, laid siege, remove the guns and matched the worshippers into the bush.
“No one saw them with guns and many people mistook them as worshippers. No body paid attention to them because they hid their guns” one of the eye witness said.
It’s not immediately clear if any of the abductees were injured or killed in the process of abduction. However, the terrorists were said to have fired warning shots to keep everyone in check.
The motive for the abduction has been established by the law enforcement agencies and no.ransom has been demanded yet..
Our correspondent reports that Zamfara state is one of the frontal states in the North West Nigeria where terrorists have built an imposing presence. In some communities they terrorists have established governance there and are freely collecting taxes and making laws.
