Several negotiations between the federal government and ASUU had failed to yield results. This has left students in the cold for over seven months without any hope in sight to end the indefinite strike.

The Federal Government has dragged ASUU to the industrial court to weigh in on the matter.

Sitting on the matter,  the court ordered ASUU to call-off the strike immediately.

Judge Polycarp Hamman on the Federal Government application for an interlocutory injunction against the 7 month old strike said ASUU should resume work.

However, the Academic Staff Union of Universities says it would appeal the order given to it by the National Industrial Court to resume work immediately.

The union specifically said it is already assembling its lawyers being led by a renowned human rights activists, Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to file an appeal.

The Chairman of the union, Lagos zone, Adelaja Odukoya, in a statement urged members of the union to remain calm and united to fight till the end.
