President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has broken the 24-year Jinx by appointing an Abuja native as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.
For 24 years since the return of democracy, an indigenous Abuja native hasn’t been appointed minister in spite being the host of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
But in the last batch of 47 Ministerial nominee, an FCT indigene, Hon. Zaphaniah Jisalo, has been nominated as a Minister.
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday forwarded the second batch of 19 ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
This now brings the total number of ministerial nominees to 47.
Tinubu submitted the list to the Senate President, Gosdswill Akpabio, through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, during plenary on Wednesday. Gbajabiamila, who is the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, was admitted into the senate chambers during the screening of one of the 28 ministerial nominees earlier sent by the president last week Thursday, July 27.
The new nominees include, Ahmed Kwaso, Bosun Tijanni, Maryam Shetty, Isiak Salako, Tunji Alausa, Yusuf Sununu, Adegboyega Oyetola, Atiku Bagudu, Bello Matawalle and Ibrahim Gaidam. Others are Simon Lalong, Lola Ade-John, Shuaibu Audu, Tahir Mamman, Aliyu Sabi, Heneiken Lokpobiri, Zaphaniah Jisalo, Uba Ahmadu and Alkali Said.
So far, the senate has concluded the screening of the first batch of 28 nominees sent by the president.
