The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushu’a Ahmed, has urged Heads of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across the NYSC Secretariats to be proactive by acquiring the latest digital skills.
He stated that embracing these skills would allow them to keep pace with advancements in technology, improve operational efficiency, ensure data security and foster digital innovation within the Scheme.
This call to action was made during a technical training workshop in Abuja, organised specifically for Heads of ICT.
The theme of the workshop, “Operations of Critical Branches on the NYSC Integrated System (NIS): Supportive Role of Heads of ICT Units in the States/FCT Secretariats,” underscores the pivotal role of ICT officers in supporting critical NYSC operations through the NIS platform.
The Director General, who was represented by the Director of Procurement, Mr Chris Jimba highlighted the rapidly evolving nature of information technology, with new tools, systems and processes.
General Ahmed also encouraged the ICT Officers to engage actively in the training, maximizing the resources available to enhance both their expertise and performance.
In her welcome address, the Director of Information and Communication Technology, Hajiya Aminat Arunah, highlighted the significant impact of Information Technology (IT) development over the past decade on the operations of the Scheme.
She emphasised that advancements in IT have revolutionised processes within NYSC, resulting in unified and seamless operations across all NYSC formations.
Hajiya Arunah assured the workshop participants of the Director General’s dedication in fostering an environment that supports their responsibilities.
According to her, this commitment is crucial in empowering participants to carry out their roles efficiently and with greater impact.
While expressing her gratitude for the continuous efforts and dedication of the Heads of ICT in carrying out their duties across various NYSC secretariats, Hajiya Arunah encouraged participants to remain committed as that is the only way to enhance the ICT framework of NYSC.
