A transport infrastructure expert, and public affairs analyst, Mr. Alex Amen Okosun has congratulated the newly sworn-in Governor of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo.
Mr. Alex, who spoke to our correspondent in Abuja, said he’s confident the new governor will prioritise the development of transportation infrastructure and other critical infrastructure required to accelerate the economic development and gross domestic product (GDP) of Edo State.
He said his victory was well deserved and a testament to the confidence the Edo people reposed in him to deliver quality dividends of democracy.
“Your victory is a victory for all Edolites irrespective of political affiliation as it shows that the hand of the Almighty God is truly on our dear state.”
“May your renowned brilliance not be eclipsed by greedy and selfish people not interested in the progress of Edo State” he prayed.
He also admonished Gov.Okpebholo not to yield too much to pressures from perceived god-fathers but he should elevate merit in the statecraft.
“Your campaign slogan of rebuild Edo encapsulates the whole yearning of the masses, and I expect that you will hit the ground running as you face this daunting task” Mr. Okosun emphasized.
He noted that the task ahead is enormous, but the fact that the governor has sufficient goodwill from across the board should make the task a bit easier for him.
“I hope that you will use this goodwill to make Edolites proud of you” he stated adding that the governor’s words should be his bond.
“Let there be a positive difference seen and felt across the state. The best way to thank the Edolites for this mandate is by giving it your best shot and delivering on your campaign promises” he further said.
He expressed the confidence the governor would rise above clannish and parochial interests because of his track records and carry all Edo people along an inclusive governance culture the state hasn’t witnessed before.
“We urge you to dare to be different. A lot of trust and confidence has been bestowed upon you, and I expect that you do not disappoint” he charged the governor.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency, and thanks for your tenacity, steadfastness, and consistent courage. The work starts now! It’s time to write your name in gold” he concluded.
