The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed has told Corps Members that there is no immunity for members of the Service Corps found guilty of criminal offenses as they would be subjected to the laws of the land like every other person.

He warned that any of them who violated the NYSC bye-laws or the nation’s constitution would be sanctioned accordingly.

The Director General gave this warning while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Corps Members at Zamfara and Sokoto State Orientation Camps, respectively.

He said the Scheme is not a safe haven for lawbreakers, adding that all Corps Members are expected to be law-abiding at all times.

“Beware of people with questionable characters and don’t indulge in any action that can lead you into trouble. If you commit any criminal offence, we will hand you over to the law enforcement agents”, he said.

Ahmed urged the Corps Members to “respect other people’s opinions, be diligent at work, and ensure that you create lasting friendships among your colleagues in camp”.

While in Zamfara Camp, the State Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Lawan Ahmed informed the Director General that he would leverage on engagement with stakeholders in the State to ensure that the welfare and security of Corps Members is given priority attention.

He attributed the success recorded in camp so far to the cooperation among the camp officials.

“A total of 573 Corps Members made up of 444 males and 129 females were registered, have adapted to their new environment and are actively engaging in the Camp activities and instructions accordingly”, he said.

In his camp situation report to the DG, the NYSC Sokoto State Coordinator, Alhaji Usman Yakubu Yaro, said the Corps Members have exhibited high sense of discipline and are amenable to obeying camp rules and regulations.

He further reported that Sokoto State have a total of 1,428 Corps Members consisting of 787 males and 641 females.
