Reviewing Pension Management in Nigeria: What Must be Done

According to John F. Kennedy, “We must use time as a tool, not as a couch.”
This Means; Development demands proactive leadership progress comes through action, not waiting.
At a time when the world is increasingly threatened by climate change, humanity faces one of its greatest challenges. This calls for leaders who combine intellect, passion, and action. Hon. Terseer Ugbor exemplifies this rare combination.
As vice Chairman of the House Committee on Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Ugbor has consistently demonstrated exceptional intellectual capacity and dedication to advancing climate action both within and beyond Nigeria. His active engagement in national and international forums speaks volumes about his commitment to sustainable development. Some of his notable involvements include:
1. Climate Parliament Delegation Representing Nigeria alongside parliamentarians from 15 African countries on clean energy implementation in local communities.
2. Transition Guidelines & Action Plan (JT-GAP) – Organized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
3. African Climate Summit, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
4. 2024 Climate Week, New York.
5. Decarbonization Summit – Organized by Women in Energy, Oil & Gas at the PTF.
6. Addressing the Impact of Climate Change on Farmers-Herders Clashes in Nigeria.
It takes deep intellect and understanding to lead productive discussions on climate change and Hon. Ugbor has continually proven to possess both. Coming from an environmental background, he remains a valuable asset to Benue State, his constituency, and Nigeria at large.
I therefore call on His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, The executive Governor of Benue state to work closely with Hon. Ugbor in developing comprehensive strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation. This is a crucial step as the world continues to push for decisive climate action.
Among the Benue National Assembly representatives I have interacted with, Hon. Ugbor stands out as a man with ideas, intellect, and integrity.
In the words of Haile Selassie of Ethiopia: “Throughout history it has been the inactions of those
Who could have acted that has made evil triumph”
This means progress demands courage and participation; doing nothing keeps nations underdeveloped.
If Benue State can unite behind such visionary leadership, I believe Hon. Ugbor’s talent and dedication will help transform the state and contribute greatly to Nigeria’s sustainable development.
