The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of sustained collaboration to strengthen the scheme’s activities in Borno State.

According to a statement signed by the Media Information Officer Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Maj Gen Abubakar gave the assurance on Thursday during a courtesy visit by thepy Borno State NYSC Coordinator, Mallam Nasir Bello, to the OPHK Headquarters in Maiduguri.

He highlighted the crucial role of the NYSC in national development, praising the long-standing cooperation between the military and the scheme. The commander noted that the successful resumption of NYSC orientation programmes in Borno reflects the significant improvement in the state’s security situation.

According to the statement, Maj Gen Abubakar reiterated the Command’s readiness to continue supporting the NYSC, stressing that the safety and welfare of corps members remain a top priority—especially ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator commended OPHK for its consistent support, saying his visit was to formally introduce himself following his assumption of duty in April 2025 and to reaffirm the active presence of the scheme in the state.

Bello recalled that the NYSC had previously suspended operations in Borno due to insurgency but has since fully returned, following security gains recorded in recent years. He described the NYSC as a “baby of the Nigerian Army” and called for continued cooperation to ensure the safety of corps members.
