We’ve Developed Systems, Policies to Build Resilient Economy – CBN Deputy Governor

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said it has developed systems and implemented policies aimed at positioning the economy to serve all segments of society.

The bank also said  it is strengthening efforts to build a resilient economy capable of supporting the aspirations of Nigerians.

The CBN Deputy Governor for Corporate Services, Ms Emem Usoro, have the indication at the weekend in Ikot Akpadem, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, following her conferment with an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Honoris Causa, at the combined 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th convocation ceremonies of Akwa Ibom State University.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said it is strengthening efforts to build a resilient economy capable of supporting the aspirations of Nigerians.

The CBN Deputy Governor for Corporate Services, Ms Emem Usoro, made this known at the weekend in Ikot Akpadem, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, following her conferment with an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Honoris Causa, at the combined 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th convocation ceremonies of Akwa Ibom State University.

Usoro said the apex bank had developed systems and implemented policies aimed at positioning the economy to serve all segments of society.

She explained that key reforms included aligning the nation’s monetary policies with fiscal measures, a move she said had contributed to exchange rate and macroeconomic stability, boosted economic growth, and fostered an inclusive economy for sustainable development.

“At the Central Bank of Nigeria, we are working hard to build a resilient economy that will support your dreams and integrate you into a global economy full of immense opportunities.

“We have developed systems and implemented policies that have pulled the country back from economic challenges and are positioning the economy to better serve all segments of society.

“In strong synergy with the Federal Government, we have aligned our monetary policies with its fiscal reforms. This has already delivered exchange rate and macroeconomic stability, boosted economic growth, and is fostering an inclusive economy for sustainable development,” she said.

The Deputy Governor also announced that the CBN would provide support to the university’s academic and research initiatives.

She urged graduates to remain curious and committed to lifelong learning, encouraging them to ask questions and embrace new knowledge.

Usoro emphasised that excellence is built on preparation, sacrifice and perseverance, and advised female graduates not to be discouraged by societal or cultural barriers in pursuing their ambitions.

“As an institution, we will support the university with a token for its academic and research work to enhance its impact in Nigeria,” she added.

Other recipients of honorary doctorate degrees included the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero (Doctor of Arts); Mr Uwem Stephen Okoko (Doctor of Engineering); Alhaji Dr Muhammadu Indimi (Doctor of Business Administration); Mrs Mina Tamuno Williams-Agbons (Doctor of Law); Mr Oliver Ebong (Doctor of Engineering); Mr Inyang Udo Tobby (Doctor of Humane Letters); and Mr Elvis Effiong Osung (Doctor of Engineering).

The university said the honours were conferred in recognition of the recipients’ outstanding.
