Present your scorecard, stop commissioned media attacks against opponents – Benue PDP
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

‎The Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Sir Tersoo Kula to present his principal’s scorecard in office rather than sponsored media attacks on the PDP and its gubernatorial flagbearer, Chief. Mike Aondokaa, SAN.

A statement signed by ‎Bright Yima Antyo, the Benue state Publicity Secretary ‎PDP said Kula’s recent media attack on the PDP was best described as a campaign of character assassination, selective history and political propaganda.

‎”It is quite ironic that a government presiding over unprecedented insecurity, economic hardship, abandoned projects, deepening poverty and growing public discontent now seeks to lecture others on integrity. Integrity is not proclaimed through press statements; it is demonstrated through transparent governance, respect for democratic institutions, accountability and the protection of lives and property,” the statement said.

‎”If Governor Alia’s administration truly believes its performance speaks for itself, it should present a scorecard of fulfilled promises instead of commissioning media attacks against perceived political opponents”, the statement indicated.

‎”The attempt to drag the name of the candidate of the PDP, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, into a desperate political narrative betrays the fear that has gripped Benue APC and Alia’s government ahead of 2027 elections. People are aware that legal issues and political disagreements cannot be distorted into criminal convictions. Selective quotations taken out of context cannot erase the constitutional presumption of innocence or diminish the distinguished legal and public service record of Chief Aondoakaa” the statement further said.

‎”More importantly, it is astonishing that the same government which preaches integrity has remained largely silent while innocent Benue communities continue to suffer repeated attacks, thousands remain displaced, farmers cannot safely return to their ancestral lands and the State’s economy continues to deteriorate. These are the issues the Chief Press Secretary should be explaining to the people instead of writing political essays” the PDP said.

‎according to the PDP “The claim that Governor Alia enjoys unquestionable goodwill betrays the frustration across the state. Public confidence is earned through results, not public relations campaigns. The increasing hardship in the State tells a story completely different from the glossy picture painted by the government propagandist.”

‎The PDP said “no amount of intimidation, blackmail, or diversionary propaganda will stop democratic engagements and legitimate political consultations among patriotic Benue leaders. Coalition-building is a constitutional and democratic exercise. Those who are uncomfortable with it should prepare to defend their record before the electorate rather than resorting to smear campaigns.”
