The Nigerian Navy says it has raided a suspected militant camp at Fununu Community in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as part of ongoing efforts to secure waterways and communities in the Niger Delta.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, on Sunday, August 10, 2026.
According to the statement, the operation was conducted by personnel of Forward Operating Base, FOB, FORMOSO on August 6, 2026.
It resulted in the arrest of three suspects allegedly linked to criminal activities in the area. Items recovered during a search of the camp were handed over to the Department of State Services, DSS, Bayelsa State Command on August 7, 2026, for further investigation.
The Navy said the operation underscores its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and preventing the use of riverine communities as safe havens for unlawful activities.
It added that it will continue to sustain operations in collaboration with other security agencies to protect lives and property and maintain a safe maritime environment across the Niger Delta.
