Troops of Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have neutralised a suspected terrorist element and recovered weapons during an intelligence-based operation in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, on Sunday in Jos.
According to the statement, on 29 August 2026 at about 9:50am, troops of Sector 2 deployed at Zak village conducted stop and search operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
During the operation, troops intercepted a green-coloured Golf vehicle with registration number DKA-808XM. A search revealed a well fabricated and concealed compartment inside the dashboard.
When troops directed the driver to open the compartment, he refused and fled into the nearby bush. Troops pursued and apprehended him.
The statement said the driver attempted to disarm one of the soldiers and was swiftly neutralised.
Items recovered from the vehicle include: two AK-47 rifles, one magazine, two wooden rifle butts, nine magazine pouches, two camel bags, six jungle hats, one mobile phone and one ATM card.
The Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for maintaining a decisive and aggressive posture, and urged that it be sustained in offensive operations against criminal elements.
He also thanked citizens for their support and called for more collaboration through timely and actionable information to enable troops secure lives and property.
