The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), in collaboration with the Agricultural Trade Group and JMT Plus Farms and Agro Allied, has announced October 15–16, 2026, as the new dates for the maiden edition of the Agricultural Mechanization for Export Quality Products in Africa (AgroMecha Expo 2026).
The announcement was made during a press briefing in Abuja, where the President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, was represented by the Second Deputy President of the Chamber, Dr. Ini Hong.
The two-day expo will be held at the Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, SAN, Trade and Convention Centre, ACCI Complex, Kilometer 8, Muritala Mohammed/Yaradua Expressway, Airport Road, Abuja.
According to the President’s address, the change in date followed extensive consultations with stakeholders and partners across the agricultural value chain. The additional preparation period is expected to provide exhibitors, investors, government institutions, development partners, farmers, researchers and other stakeholders with greater opportunity to participate effectively.
Driving Agricultural Transformation Through Technology and Investment
The expo will be held under the theme, “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export,” highlighting the need to transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector from predominantly subsistence production into a modern, technology-driven, investment-led and export-oriented industry.
AgroMecha Expo 2026 is designed to promote agricultural mechanization, strengthen export-quality production systems, facilitate technology transfer, encourage value addition and attract sustainable investments across the agricultural and agribusiness value chain.
A major highlight of the event will be the official declaration by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON.
The keynote address will be delivered by the President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engineer Jani Ibrahim, OON, MNI, on the topic: “Agricultural Export and the Role of Private Capital in Its Value Chain.”
Platform for Investment and Business Opportunities
The expo is expected to bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including policymakers, government representatives, agribusiness investors, agricultural machinery manufacturers, technology providers, research institutions, academia, farmers’ associations, development partners, financial institutions, agro-processors, exporters, logistics operators and international organisations.
The programme will feature exhibitions showcasing modern agricultural technologies and solutions, including mechanized farming equipment, precision agriculture technologies, irrigation systems, agro-processing machinery, packaging solutions and climate-smart agricultural innovations.
Participants will also have access to high-level plenary sessions, technical discussions, interactive workshops, business-to-business engagements and investment forums designed to foster collaboration, mobilise capital, facilitate technology transfer and create strategic partnerships.
One of the major attractions will be the Live Demonstration Arena, where participants will witness modern agricultural machinery and technologies in practical application.
A dedicated Agro-Processing and Packaging Platform will also showcase opportunities for local value addition, improved product quality and enhanced competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
Empowering the Next Generation
Recognising the critical role of young people in the future of agriculture, AgroMecha Expo 2026 will feature a Schools Agro Exhibition and Competition, aimed at stimulating creativity, innovation and greater interest in agriculture among students and young people.
The initiative is expected to expose young participants to emerging agricultural technologies while encouraging them to view agriculture as a viable business, career and investment opportunity.
Agriculture as a Driver of Nigeria’s Economic Transformation
Speaking on the significance of the expo, ACCI stressed that agriculture remains central to Nigeria’s economic transformation but requires a deliberate shift from traditional production systems towards mechanization, technology, innovation, research, investment and stronger market linkages.
The Chamber noted that increased agricultural mechanization and strategic investment could significantly improve productivity, create decent employment opportunities, strengthen food security and position Nigeria as a major player in agricultural exports across Africa and the global market.
The initiative also comes at a time when Nigeria is seeking to diversify its economy, expand its industrial base, create employment and strengthen domestic food production.
ACCI Calls for Stakeholder Participation
ACCI called on relevant ministries, departments and agencies, private-sector operators, development partners, financial institutions, research institutions, farmers’ associations, international organisations and the wider agribusiness community to actively participate in the landmark event.
The Chamber also appealed to the media to provide extensive coverage and visibility for AgroMecha Expo 2026, noting that strategic media engagement will be critical to generating public awareness, attracting investors and amplifying the opportunities presented by the expo.
