Residents of Asarara Kaura community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State have commended troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, for foiling a terror attack and recovering a large herd of rustled cattle.
The commendation followed a swift response by the troops to credible intelligence that armed terrorists had infiltrated the community, terrorising locals and rustling livestock.
Acting promptly on the intelligence, the troops mobilised to block the escape route of the terrorists.
They intercepted the fleeing terrorists along the Tambuwal-Gadaichi-Gummi road axis. On sighting the troops, the terrorists opened fire in a desperate attempt to escape.
The troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee into surrounding bushes with gunshot wounds, abandoning the entire herd.
The intervention brought relief and jubilation to residents of Asarara Kaura and neighbouring communities, who trooped out to applaud the troops for their bravery and prompt action in safeguarding lives and livelihoods.
The recovered livestock is currently in secure military custody.
Arrangements have been concluded for formal handover to the Chairman, Sokoto State Committee on Recovery of Rustled Animals, for verification and return to rightful owners.
