Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY) have recorded fresh successes in separate operations conducted on 26 September 2026, neutralising a terrorist and rescuing six kidnapped victims in Sokoto and Zamfara States.
This was disclosed in a statement on 27 September 2026 by the Media Information Officer of the Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
Danja said in Sokoto State, on 26 September, troops of Sector 2 acted on credible intelligence indicating presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area and swiftly assaulted the location.
“During the operation, troops made contact with an isolated terrorist and neutralised him. Items recovered from the encounter include one AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, and various tools and clothing,” he stated.
Similarly, in Zamfara State, on the evening of same day, troops of Sector 2 responded promptly to information regarding an attempted kidnapping of members of the Sarkin Samari’s family by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area.
“On arrival at the scene, troops engaged the terrorists with effective fire, forcing them to withdraw towards nearby bushes. In the course of the operation, six kidnap victims were successfully rescued and taken to a place of safety, pending reunification with their families,” Danja said.
He said the successes underscore the resolve and professionalism of JTF NW OPFY troops in safeguarding lives and property across the North West.
He enjoined the general public to continue supporting troops with credible and timely information on activities of terrorists and other criminal elements.
