The National Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Chief Kenneth Udeze, has alleged that a secret suit was filed by one Mr Adekunle Omoaje in conspiracy with some staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the leadership of Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN.
Udeze raised the alarm in a statement on Saturday, describing the development as shocking.
According to him, the same parties and subject matter are already pending before a Federal High Court in an ongoing pre-election suit instituted by the authentic leadership of the party under his chairmanship.
“We have uncovered this hide-and-seek game and we shall not hesitate to expose the rot in the Commission if it continues to disobey the subsisting judgement of the Court of Appeal which affirmed my leadership,” he said.
“The leadership tussle of Action Alliance is older than 90 per cent of the commission’s staff now trying to sit on a history older than them. They must recognise my leadership as affirmed by law. That is what the law says,” Udeze added.
He queried INEC’s interest in the party’s internal affairs.
“What is INEC’s interest in AA? Where were they when I was being thrown from one detention facility to another, including Ilesha Prison in Osun State, in the course of this struggle?” he said.
The AA chairman urged the INEC leadership to obey the rule of law.
“Prof. Amupitan’s INEC must obey the rule of law. It must not allow itself to be used as a tool to destabilise a lawful political party,” he said.
“We remain resolute. No amount of conspiracy can truncate the will of the law,” Udeze stated.
