The Action Alliance (AA) has taken note of the statement credited to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), warning staff of the Commission against partisanship ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was contained in a statement signed by the National Chairman of Action Alliance, Chief Kenneth Udeze, Esq.
The party commended the Chairman for what it described as finally waking up to the open secret that INEC staff across the states and at the headquarters are deeply compromised and partisan.
“However, with due respect to the Chairman, threats from Enugu will make no meaning if he cannot first clean the Augean stable at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja, which has become a marketplace for corruption and a bazaar for the highest bidder,” the statement said.
The Action Alliance said it is a direct victim of partisanship and conspiracy by staff of INEC, alleging that for over five years, a cabal in the Legal Department and the Election & Party Monitoring (EPM) Department conspired with impostors to cause unending leadership crisis in the party.
It accused the officials of illegal filing of frivolous court processes, manipulation of party records and willful disobedience to valid court judgments affirming the legitimate leadership of the party.
“This is not partisanship, it is criminal conspiracy against Nigerian democracy,” the party stated.
The AA therefore called on Prof. Amupitan to go beyond rhetoric and immediately institute a full, independent investigation into the activities of the INEC Legal Department and EPM Department in the Action Alliance crisis.
The party also demanded that all staff found to have colluded to destabilize a registered political party be identified and sacked, and that INEC headquarters be sanitized to restore public confidence ahead of 2027.
“You cannot build a credible election on a compromised bureaucracy. The INEC Chairman must prove he is not shielding corruption at the top while threatening junior staff in the zones,” Udeze said.
“Nigerian democracy will only be safe when INEC staff stop acting as agents of political merchants,” he added.
