Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised three terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, motorcycle and cattle during separate operations conducted in Kaduna and Zamfara States.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, on October 30, 2026.
On October 29, troops of Sector 1, while conducting a fighting patrol along the Shadow–Old Kuyello Road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, came under attack from armed terrorists. Troops swiftly responded with superior firepower, successfully repelling the attack.
Subsequent pursuit and exploitation of the area led to the neutralisation of three terrorists and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, three rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle. No casualties were recorded among troops during the encounter.
In another development, on October 30, troops of Sector 1, while on routine patrol, recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep from suspected cattle rustlers in Shanono town, Shanono Local Government Area of Sokoto State. On sighting the advancing patrol, the suspected criminals abandoned the animals and fled the area. Efforts to hand over the cattle to the appropriate authority are in progress.
The Joint Task Force remains resolute in its determination to sustain operational momentum against terrorists and other criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area. Members of the public are encouraged to continue supporting ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information to security agencies to facilitate the restoration of lasting peace and security in the North West.
