FG inaugurates 11-man Railway Security Committee

The Federal Ministry of Transportation on behalf of the Federal Government has inaugurated eleven member security committee to advise on sustainable ways to safeguard railway facilities accross the country. 

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, inaugurated the  11-man Railway Security Committee on Monday in Abuja.

Dr. Ajani who is also the Chairperson of the committee charged them “to provide concrete measures to safeguard passengers and railway infrastructure.”

The Committee draws membership from the Ministry, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), the security agencies and civil society.

She said the committee had other terms of reference to include: “The review of the surveillance equipment, setting up of Special Task Force on railway lines across the country, develop a comprehensive report on the incident/attack on 28th March, 2022 and 20th of October 2021, and make recommendations to prevent future occurrence of similar incident and/or attack.
