Trapped Funds: CBN Disburses $61.64m to Foreign Airlines, Settles $2bn liabilities

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced it has further paid $61.64 million to foreign airlines as part of their trapped funds.
Recall foreign airlines have claimed their I repatriated funds from ticket sales is over $700 million.
“The @cenbank has announced the disbursement of $61.64 million to foreign airlines through various Deposit Money Banks” CBN twitter on X.
“Also, the Apex Bank, in the last three months, has successfully redeemed outstanding forward liabilities amounting to nearly $2 billion” the tweet further stated.
“The initiative is part of the CBN’s ongoing efforts to reduce its outstanding liability to the airlines” the CBN stated.
