Mr. Agabi eulogized Chief Ortom for his modest achievements while in office as the Executive Governor of Benue State (2015-2023) despite his regime being encumbered by complex insecurity unleashed by external aggressors on a scale never seen in the state’s history.

“Chief Ortom’s sustained outcry against the various attacks on Benue drew national and international consciousness to the coordinated patterns of the attacks by criminals suspected to be Fulani herders. This helped other states. Especially states in the South East and South West to retool their security architecture to address the aggressions that later extended to their states. Chief Ortom is being revered in those states for his doggedness” the statement indicated.

Also, Mr. Agabi indicated that “the Benue Open-Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017 signed by Chief Ortom remain a watershed in the management of insecurity in the state and several states across the country have adopted the model. Even the federal government has acknowledged the prescription by Benue State as the antidote to herdsmen’s attacks on farming communities over grazing fields even though it hasn’t found the political will to adapt the law at the national level.”

“As an entrepreneur, Chief Ortom is one of the biggest employers of labour in Benue state from investments spanning agriculture, manufacturing, water, education, media, furniture, and entertainment industries. Unlike other Benue indigenous investors who prefer to invest outside of Benue State, Chief Ortom has kept almost all of his investments in Benue State to retain jobs and wealth” said adding that other investors should emulate same.

As a philanthropist, Chief Ortom and his Wife Dr. Mrs. Eunice Ortom run the biggest private humanitarian interventions in the state on health, education, and entrepreneurship Mr. Agabi noted.

Agabi prayed God to continue to grant the celebrant’s wisdom, and long life in good health and happiness.

“May your birthday be filled with joy and may your legacy continue to inspire generations to come. Cheers to you, Your Excellency Sir!”
