The African Union (AU) Assessment Team has praised the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) for its operational achievements in the Lake Chad Basin region.
This was revealed  during the team’s visit to MNJTF Headquarters in Farcha, N’Djamena.
Leading the AU team, Colonel Bedda Tumushabe, a strategic support cell officer at AU Headquarters, highlighted the impressive successes attained by the MNJTF in recent Operation Lake Sanity 2.
These accomplishments he stated include the mass surrender of insurgents and the rescue of numerous individuals across the  region.
He conveyed that such breakthroughs have significantly motivated continued support from various international partners, expressing optimism about the eventual eradication of terrorist threats from the Lake Chad Basin.
In response, the Force Commander of MNJTF, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, extended his gratitude to the AU for their ongoing support.
He acknowledged the additional backing that has been crucial to the MNJTF’s operational success. He emphasized the need for sustained commitment from all troop-contributing countries to fully realize the mandate of the MNJTF.
General Ali underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation between the AU and the MNJTF to ensure the long-term security and stability of the region.
