The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) women’s beach volleyball team emerged victorious at the 2024 National Beach Volleyball Star Tour in Bauchi, securing the top spot in an exciting final on Saturday, 17 November 2024.
The competition, held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, saw the NCS team, captained by Tochukwu Nnoruga, defeat Kada Emeralds 2-1. The final score was 19-21, 25-23, 15-9, in what was a thrilling encounter.
Samuel Onikeku, Sports Secretary of the Nigeria Customs Service, attributed the victory to the team’s resilience and strong sense of teamwork.
“This triumph is a testament not only to the hard work and skill of the players but also to the unwavering support from our leadership,” Onikeku said. “We are immensely proud of our women’s team, who have demonstrated exceptional resilience and teamwork.”
He also praised the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, for his continuous backing, dedicating the trophy to him.
In addition to the women’s success, the NCS men’s team also delivered an impressive performance, finishing second in the competition. While the men’s team finished as runners-up, the women’s team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.
Onikeku views the victory as a significant milestone for the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League and expressed hopes for more successes for both the men’s and women’s teams in future competitions.
