In a  step towards strengthening regional security collaboration, the Force Commander (FC) Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut has  conducted a familiarization  visit to the  Chadian Defense leadership.

During the  visit, the Force Commander met with the Chadian Minister of Armed Forces, Veterans and War Victims  His Excellency Issaka Malloua Ndjamous, and the Chadian Chief of General Staff, General Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud.

In his remarks,  Major General Mutkut gave  an update on the MNJTF’s ongoing operations, emphasizing its relentless efforts to combat Boko Haram and stabilize the Lake Chad Basin. He unveiled a strategic plan designed to enhance operational effectiveness and address emerging security threats.

The FC expressed his appreciation to the Chadian Ministry of Armed Forces, Veterans, and War Victims for their steadfast support in advancing the MNJTF’s mission.

The Chadian Minister of Defense congratulated Major General Mutkut on his appointment and praised the positive developments observed since he assumed command. He urged the FC to continue the legacy of his predecessor and maintain momentum in the fight against Boko Haram.

The Minister commended the MNJTF for the success of Operation Lake Sanity 2, particularly the dismantling of a significant Boko Haram stronghold, which has considerably weakened the terrorist group’s capabilities.

Reflecting on his participation in the Operation Lake Sanity 2 Medal Parade, the Minister expressed his admiration for the dedication of MNJTF troops, which underscores the task force’s achievements and resilience. He highlighted the importance of frequent, well-coordinated operations to dismantle Boko Haram and restore lasting peace to the region.

The Minister also noted that regular meetings among the Lake Chad Basin governors and the return of displaced persons are clear indicators of the MNJTF’s success in stabilizing affected areas.

In similar vein, the Chadian  Chief of General Staff  General  Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud, warmly welcomed Major General Mutkut and commended his proactive approach in presenting a new strategic plan. He pledged full support, particularly in the fight against Boko Haram, and emphasized that the MNJTF symbolizes the brotherhood among Lake Chad region countries. General Abakar reassured the FC that Sector 2 remains operational and committed to restoring normalcy, promising to revive its original concept.

The new strategic plan to combat terrorism impressed both the Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff, who believe it will be instrumental in regaining control and ensuring lasting peace and security for the region’s people. Major General Mutkut expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chadian officials for their warm hospitality and pledged to translate their support into tangible results on the ground.

The visit marked a pivotal moment in fortifying the partnership between the MNJTF and the Chadian government in their shared mission to combat terrorism.
