‘I regret June 12 annulment; Abiola Won’ – IBB

Former Military President, general Ibrahim B. Babangida has expressed deep regret for annulling the June 12, 1993 Presidential election.

He has also taken full responsibility even as he said Alh. Moshood Abiola did win the election under the then Social Democratic Party (SDP).

MKO Abiola was widely acclaimed to have defeated Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention (NRC) in an election that was described internationally as the freest and fairest ever conducted in Nigeria.

“I regret June 12. I accept full responsibility for the decisions taken and June 12 happened under my watch. Mistakes, missteps happened in quick successions,” he during the launch of his autobiography – “A Journey in Service”, in Abuja, on Thursday.
