Dr. Asemakaha commended Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for the support and opportunity to serve, pledging that more transformative initiatives would follow to improve the lives of the people.

“Electric vehicles are the future of mobility, and I’m thrilled to see this innovative technology being adopted in our community. This car represents a significant step towards reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, decreasing air pollution, and mitigating the impacts of climate change, ” the GMD stated.

The lead partner of the project, Mr. Esse Oke of ESSE Mobility Group, lauded both BIPC and the Benue State Government for embracing their vision. He revealed that the Green Wheels Taxi project features the first set of electric/solar-powered taxis in Africa, with a target of deploying 500 units across Makurdi, Gboko, and Otukpo.

Earlier in her welcome address, Theresa Abeda, Head of Business Development and Strategy at BIPC, highlighted the transformative potential of the electric taxis in reshaping transportation in the state.

In their goodwill messages, Builder Lucy Jato, General Manager of Real Estate and Infrastructure, and Joshua Nyipira, Head of Administration and Human Resources Management, thanked the partners and encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the employment opportunities.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Company Secretary Josephat Ioryoosu Esq assured stakeholders of the company’s commitment to delivering quality and sustainable services to the people of Benue State.

The Green Wheels Taxi initiative marks a major step in Benue’s drive toward sustainable development and innovation in public transportation.
