Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have uncovered a large cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the vital Marte–Dikwa bridge in Borno State.

This was revealed in statement issued by Nigerian Army’s on it’s social media handle.

According to the statement, the discovery was made during a coordinated clearance operation by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams deployed from Forward Operating Bases in Marte and Dikwa.

The EOD teams successfully recovered 56 fully assembled IEDs from the bridge. Controlled procedures are currently ongoing to neutralize additional explosive threats and ensure the complete safety of the area.

“This successful operation has prevented a potentially catastrophic attack,” the statement read, emphasizing that the recovered IEDs were strategically planted on the bridge — a critical route for military logistics and civilian movement in the region.

The Nigerian Army lauded the expertise and vigilance of its personnel, noting that the mission underscores the unwavering commitment of troops in securing critical infrastructure and protecting civilian lives in the North East theatre of operations.

This latest development comes amid sustained military pressure on terrorist groups operating in the Lake Chad Basin, with ongoing efforts to dismantle their logistics networks and deny them freedom of action across Borno and its environs.
