The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has issued a public warning against a fake press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms, claiming to announce the shortlist for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for recruitment exercises.
According to the press release signed by Abdullahi Maiwada, Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, the purported release, which claims the CBT is scheduled to take place in July 2025, is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Service.
The NCS has categorically stated that it did not issue any such announcement regarding a CBT slated for July 2025.
The Service has identified discrepancies in the fake statement, particularly in its formatting, which differs from the official standard.
The NCS is taking steps to trace the origin of the false information and will take appropriate action to hold those responsible accountable.
The NCS urges the public not to engage with, share, or act upon the unverified content, assuring that authentic information about its activities, including recruitment exercises, will only be published on its official website, verified social media platforms, and recognized national newspapers.
The Service appreciates the vigilance of concerned Nigerians and reaffirms its commitment to protecting the public from misinformation, ensuring all its processes uphold the highest standards of transparency and integrity.
