CBN, British High Commissioner to Nigeria Holds Strategic Meeting

The Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, held a strategic meeting with the Bank of England Parliamentary Affairs Team, led by the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, at the CBN Head Office.

Sources say the meeting held behind closed door discussed strategic financial and economic cooperation between the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

Dr. Richard Montgomery twitting on X via @RMontgomeryUK about the meeting said “the revival of @cenbank credibility & good monetary policy by HE Governor Cardoso & his top team has been impressive to witness since 2023.”

 

“Delighted to support CBN & @bankofengland peer relationship. Excellent mutual exchange & learning. Important for investor & trade confidence” he further twitted.

The Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso (middle) flanked by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun (right) and the Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), Dr. Zaccheus Adedeji, after a crucial meeting at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Head Office, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

In another development, the CBN governor engaged with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun and the Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), Dr. Zaccheus Adedeji, to discuss crucial economic matters.

Sources familiar with the conversation said the meeting centred on deepening economic growth and raising the revenue position of the economy.
