BIPC SETS TO EMPOWER BENUE ORANGE FARMERS, CALLS FOR REGISTRATION

The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has commenced the registration of major orange (citrus) farmers and dealers in the state.

The citrus farmers in the state will be the core of suppliers Benfruits juice farmers and this will in no small measure empower the farmers who hitherto where shortchanged by middlemen.

The registration of the orange farmers is part of preparations to commence test-run of concentrate production on Benfruits, the Management said in a statement.

It is part of BIPC’s strategic efforts to build a comprehensive database of farmers for orange value chain and reduce post-harvest losses

BIPC is also set to receive the first batch of twenty (20) truckloads of oranges that will be used to test-run its newly established concentrate factory. The trucks are expected to be received on or before 30th September, 2025, strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, the statement indicated.

All interested major orange farmers are advised to visit the BIPC Headquarters, Makurdi, to complete their registration, the statement indicated.
