The Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr (Dr) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has been honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence in Capacity Building and Staff Welfare by the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN).
This recognition, conferred by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the ASCSN, celebrates the exceptional leadership of Engr. Coker-Odusote, marked by a deep commitment to staff development, welfare, and institutional transformation. The DG was also recently honoured with the Innovation Service Delivery by the Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE). This was in recognition of the notable sterling innovations and Excellent services under her astute leadership.
Since assuming office, Engr. Coker-Odusote has implemented a bold and inclusive 5-Point Agenda, with staff welfare and capacity building as central pillars. Key milestones achieved under her leadership include: promotion of over 3000 staff members,
Implementing a 25–30% salary increment approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, comprehensive and all-inclusive staff training programs for all staff members, executive retreats and management workshops, amongst many other laudable staff welfare programs.
The DG, in alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, embarks on the distribution of over 2500 systems to drive NIN enrolment, equipping strategic departments with modern computers and workstations to align with global best practices.
Introducing free staff bus services, a new staff car park initiative and facilitating access to national food palliatives to cushion economic pressures. These initiatives have significantly enhanced staff morale, productivity and organisational cohesion.
The DG/CEO’s open-door policy and proactive engagement with labour unions have fostered a culture of mutual respect and collaboration, setting a new standard for leadership in the public sector. The ASCSN described the award as a testament to the DG/CEO’s “rare sincerity and sensitivity to the yearnings of workers,” and praised her for “policies and actions that have enhanced productivity, improved working conditions and strengthened social dialogue.”
This award not only celebrates past achievements but also signals a renewed commitment to sustaining excellence in public service delivery.
